Hello from the Cape!

Hey Everyone!

I’m doing a virtual postcard…minus the pictures, hahahaha. I’m in the middle of my vacation and having a wonderful time! I’ve eaten too much, drank too much, and spent a few days at the beach. Despite my earlier whining, I’m actually having a relaxing time and really enjoying myself. It’s amazing how much more fun you can have when you’re not running the kids to millions of activities every day.

I haven’t had much of a chance to go on line, but if I get a chance I’ll be back soon. I have a book coming out tomorrow so I really hope I can bounce around on line a bit!

Take care and enjoy the sun!

Wish you were here! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist)

Vacation? I think not

Posted by Arianna Hart - August 3rd, 2007

My family is getting ready to go on vacation. No, we’re not going to Disney or some island or anything RELAXING. We’re going to Cape Cod to stay with my mother in law for two weeks.

First, let me say, I LOVE my mother in law. It took us a few years to get our boundries set and figure each other out, but now, we’re solid. I love spending time with her and absolutely love going to the Cape and staying with her.

But. . .

To me, a vacation involves sitting around doing a whole lotta nothing, reading enough books to stock a library, and drinking and eating to excess. Oh, and there needs to be a pool or a beach involved too. I don’t mind doing some sight seeing, but primarily, my idea of a vacation involves RELAXTION.

This vacation, does not.

First of all, my mother in law works, so there’s no one besides me to watch the kids, do the laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. Also, my oldest daughter has been signed up for sailing camp, so I’ll be running her back and forth to that three days a week for two weeks.

This is far too similar to my real life to be a vacation. I figure I’ll manage to get some reading time in there, somehow, and I’ll most assuredly eat to excess. I imagine I’ll even get to the beach several times, but there’s a big difference between going to the beach with a book and a cooler and going with three children.

I shouldn’t whine. Many people don’t get any vacation. Many more don’t have the opportunity to spend two weeks rent free at Cape Cod. I’m sure once my children are grown and want nothing to do with me, I’ll look back on these vacations fondly.

As I’m sipping a margarita poolside with a book in my hand. . .
