The degrees of exhaustion

Posted by Arianna Hart - September 18th, 2007

I’ve been tired before.

OH boy have I been tired before. There was the time I worked until midnight, drove to Washington D.C. for a concert, drove home and went to work the following night, all without sleeping. I even stayed up for three straight days with only a few power naps to keep me going at RT one time.

All those fun things made the exhaustion worthwhile.

Getting no sleep last night while I took care of sick children wasn’t exactly the best way to avoid sleep.

I’ve never been so tired. At least not that I can remember in my hazy sleep-deprived mind.

As I struggled to focus during work, I realized that there must be degrees of exhaustion. When I was younger, it seemed much easier to bounce back. Now, I’m bouncing about as well as a deflated basketball.

On the plus side, the girls are feeling much better. I think I’ll go take a nap now.

Stay at home mother? Ha!

I am not a stay at home mom. Despite the fact that I work part time, I dare anyone to call a full time mommy a stay at home mom. There’s no such thing.

A stay in car mommy, now that’s another story.

With all three of my girls in soccer and dance, I spend more time running around than I do staying at home. For example. . .

This Friday daughter number 3 has dance class from 4:30 to 5:15, she then has soccer from 5:00- 6:00. Daughter #2 has dance 6:00- 6:45

Saturday is picture day for soccer. My day goes something like this. . .

8:15–#3 has pictures across town,

9:00–#3 has soccer game back near our house

9:30–#1 has pictures close to our house

10:30–#1 has game across town (I’m coaching)

11:00–#2 has pictures close to our house

12:00–#2 has game across town (incidentally, at the same place #3 had her pictures 4 hours earlier)

1:30–Fire department family picnic on the opposite side of town

6:00–Barbecue near our house.

I figure I’ll be lucky if I get to eat and/or go to the bathroom at all before 2:00 Saturday.

When exactly does the stay home part of this happen?
